Same Day Electronic Payments

ACH payments are electronic payments made through the Automated Clearing House (ACH) network. These payments include both credits (payroll, direct deposit) and debits (bill payment, funds transfer, electronic check conversion.)
As part of an effort to improve and modernize the U.S. payments system, you may have already noticed a change in the times during the day that we apply ACH credit transfers to your account. This change was made to help provide you with faster access to funds for same-day Direct Deposits.

We have now changed the times that we apply certain electronic debit payments to your account to include multiple times per day. Electronic debit payments are created when you give permission to pay a bill directly from your checking or savings account. In addition, some merchants may convert a check written from your account to make a purchase into an ACH debit. While these types of payments won’t be reflected on your account balance as quickly as your debit card and ATM transactions, you will have access to more accurate information about your actual available account balance more frequently throughout the business day.

If you have pre-authorized an electronic payment, such as a recurring mortgage or insurance payment, then very likely there will be no change to the time that these payments are posted to your account. As always, we will receive and post these payments normally as designated by the transaction effective date.

As we see payments are moving faster in today’s world, we remind you to always have sufficient funds in your account to cover every payment that you make, authorize or initiate, and you should frequently review your account statements and transactions. If you have any questions regarding same day ACH, please feel free to call our Data Processing Department.
